The BS6 Honda Civic diesel is powered by a 1.6-litre i-DTEC turbo unit. This is the same BS4 engine upgraded to meet the BS6 emission norms, its power (120PS) and torque (300Nm) figures remain identical to the BS4 numbers. The mill is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, with no automatic transmission on offer. Honda Cars India claims that the BS6 Civic diesel delivers a mileage of 23.9kmpl.
The Civic is Honda’s rival for the likes of the Hyundai Elantra, Tata Harrier, MG Hector, Jeep Compass and the next-generation Skoda Octavia set to launch in India in 2021.
