Hyundai Verna facelift launched in India priced starting at Rs 9.30Lakhs

The 2020 Verna is being retailed in three powertrain options – 1.5-litre petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel and 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol. The price range stands between Rs. 9.30 lakh and Rs. 15.09 lakh lakh (ex-showroom, introductory) and it comes equipped with design revisions and cabin updates in order to extend the life-cycle of the existing model.

Prices range from Rs 9.3 lakhs to Rs 15 lakhs. All prices are ex-sh. New Hyundai Verna gets three BS6 engine options that include one diesel and two petrol engines. The 1.5-litre petrol unit generates max power of 115 hp and max torque of 144 Nm. Engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT unit. The 1.5-litre diesel engine delivers 115 hp / 250 Nm and comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic unit. Most powerful engine is the 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor that generates 120 hp / 177 Nm. It is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

With its styling updates, 2020 Hyundai Verna Facelift BS6 looks sportier than its predecessor. Key changes include the trendy hexagonal grille with chrome-infused mesh design, new LED headlamps, triangular fog lamp housing, reworked front bumper, and sleek secondary airdam. The side profile is distinguishable with its coupe-inspired gently arching roofline and dual-tone alloy wheels. Rear profile is largely the same with the exception of restyled tail lamps and updated bumper. Interiors have undergone significant revisions and they now look more premium in comparison to the outgoing model. Key features on the inside include an updated dashboard, glossy piano black accents, central AC vents, electric sunroof, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and voice recognition. Comfort and convenience features include wireless charging, ventilated front seats, rear privacy curtain, and electric sunroof.

A key differentiater for new Verna will be its first-in-segment BlueLink tech. This is the first time that an executive sedan will have a comprehensive range of internet connected smart features across safety, security, remote access and vehicle relationship management. Already available with Hyundai Venue and new Creta, BlueLink tech offers advanced features such as stolen vehicle tracking, stolen vehicle notification, tyre pressure monitoring system, remote engine start / stop, remote vehicle status, monthly vehicle health report, maintenance alert, geo-fence alert, speed alert, etc.

Designed for enhanced safety, new Verna comes with features such as vehicle stability management, front parking sensors, driver rear view monitor, hill start assist control, and rear disk brakes. Bookings for new Hyundai Verna are already open. The updated sedan will take on rivals such as Maruti Ciaz, next-gen Honda City, Skoda Rapid and VW Vento.

The C-segment for sedans has been suffering a huge drop in volume sales in recent times courtesy of buyers switching for the mid-size SUVs. But there is some hope existing for its revival as the facelifted Verna will be followed by the launch of the new-gen Honda City sometime next month in India.
